Will Birmingham play in the Rebel Indoor Football League?
October 11, 2016
The Rebel Indoor Football League issues a press release announcing the formation
of a new indoor football league that will begin play in March 2017.
Currently, the RIFL claims to have two Alabama-based teams, the
Birmingham Bombers and the Huntsville Avengers. Other teams from Mississippi and
Tennessee are also planned.
Mike Zak is the league's founder.
Franchises will cost owners between $245,000-$365,000. If an owner of an
established indoor football team moves their franchise from another league, the
fee is reduced to $65,000 and a $2,000 per month league fee.
Each team will play a ten game schedule, with five home games and five road
games. Playoffs and a championship game will occur after the regular season is
completed.
A league meeting for owners will take place in Las Vegas in the near future.
