The Central Basketball Development League, a struggling semi-pro basketball league, claims Birmingham will have a team in their upcoming 2016 season.

Birmingham will be joining the Bradenton Gym Rats, Florida Lakers, Fort Pierce Pride, Georgia Panthers, Gulf Coast Wizards, Savannah Cavaliers, and Shreveport-Bossier Knights.

No owner or venue was named for the Birmingham team.

The season will begin in March of next year.

There has been talk of two other Alabama cities joining the league for the 2016 season, the Talladega Toros and the Sylacauga Sonics.

The CBDL started out in 2013 as the Central Basketball League before changing their name after the 2014 season.

Epilogue
A Birmingham team never joined the Central Basketball Development League.

It is also unclear if the CBDL ever played a 2016 season.
